Experience

Pablo Rodarte is among the few American-born artists who can claim notoriety and respect in a culture not of his birth. Trained in his youth in the disciplines of tap dance, classical ballet, and jazz, Mr. Rodarte at the age of 19 embarked on a career which would afford him artistic recognition throughout Europe, the Middle and Far East, Australia and finally the United States. For 24 years of his life Spain was a home, an institute of learning and a stage on which he excelled as an exponent of the Spanish dance. Because of his mastery of classical ballet and jazz, Spanish television, film and theater were quick to take advantage of his talent providing Mr. Rodarte a wide range of experience for his development as a performer and visual artist.

Mr. Rodarte studied under the great masters including; Antonio Marín, Mercedes León y Albano Zuñiga, Victoria Eugenia, Alberto Lorca, Jose Granero, Tomás de Madrid, Maria Rosa Mercéd, Pedro Azorín, Ciro and finally Angel Torres. Schooled in the three disciplines of Spanish dance (regional, flamenco, and bolero school) Rodarte danced with the companies of Rafael de Cordoba, Alberto Lorca, Maria Rosa, Antonio Gades, Raul, Pacita Tomas, Alberto Portillo, Carmen Cubillo, Jose Molina, Jose Greco, Susana Di Palma, Carlota Santana , and Maria Benitez.

His work in the USA includes founding the company Amanecer Teatro Flamenco in Denver, Colorado, ten years as an adjunct professor at the University of New Mexico and Artistic Director of Dance España based in Albuquerque. This unusual and extensive artistic career has ultimately created in Mr. Rodarte an invaluable tool for theater direction. Natividad Flamenca, Carmen’s Tango Bar, The Red Haired Carmen, and finally Pailletes and Candy Beads are among his recent theater pieces.




Mr. Rodarte now resides in Tucson, Arizona where he devotes himself to passing his knowledge on to others through teaching and making art.

MADRID, SPAIN (1960-1985)
The following companies were based in Madrid and toured internationally:

* Soloist with Rafael de Córdoba Company, "Festival of Picasso,"
Toulouse, France and "Summer Festivals of Spain," throughout Spain.

* Soloist with the companies of Antonio Gades, Antonio Ruiz, Alberto Lorca (Anthology of Zarzuela).

* Carmen Cubillo Trio; toured the Canary Islands, Baghdad and Cairo.

* Soloist in Tablao Flamenco circuit working in "Los Cabales" and "Torresbermejas."

* Duo: "Pablo y Luisa," toured Brussels, Berlin and Oslo.

UNITED STATES (1960-present)

* Soloist with Denver Civic Ballet, directed by Enrique Martínez.

* Denver Parks and Recreation; Soloist in "Show Wagon," directed by Ernestine Smith, Denver, Colorado.

* Soloist with televised Jazz Ballet and "Bluebell Girl," directed by Sandra LaBroque, English choreographer.

* Soloist with companies of José Molina, José Greco and María Benítez, Susana di Palma’s Zorongo Flamenco in Minneapolis, Spanish Dance Arts Company of New York, and Patri Nader’s Spanish Dance Theatre in San José, California.

* Guest Artist with Carlota Santana’s Spanish Dance Arts, New York, October, 1987.

* Guest Artist with Susana Di Palma "Zorongo Flamenco" in the production of "Guernica," Triplex Theatre, New York, November 1988.

* Guest Artist with Susana Di Palma’s "Zorongo Flamenco" in the production of Doña Flor and Her Two Husbands," Joyce Theatre, New York, January 1993.

* Guest Artist with Central City Opera in the production of "Carmen," Colorado, June 1993.

* Annual Guest Artist in "Festival Flamenco" from 1989 thru 2000. Alburquerque, New Mexico.

AUSTRALIA (1970-1972)

*Director of "Los Duendes," flamenco dance trio, toured Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippine Islands, Hong Kong and Macao.

* Performer with Sidney Symphony Orchestra, directed by Moshe
Ashman.

* Producer of the first Spanish Cabaret in Sidney: "Amado’s Spanish Fiesta." Copenhagen (1968)

*Featured Dancer in Broadway musical "Man of La Mancha."

Puede ser que el Maestro Pablo Rodarte sea uno de los pocos nativos de los Estados Unidos que puede reclamar notoriedad y respeto en una cultura ajena de su nacimiento. Entrenado en su joventud en las disciplinas de"tap dance, ballet clásico, y jazz,", el maestro Rodarte embarcó una carrera que le permitiría un reconocimiento artístico por Europa, medio y lejano Oriente, Australia y finalmente los Estados Unidos. Durante 24 años de su vida España fue su hogar, su aprendizaje, y su escenario donde él se destacó como interprete del baile español. Pablo Rodarte tuvo el privilegio de haber sido entrenado por los mejores maestros de danza en España; Antonio Marín, Mercedes León y Albano Zúñiga, Victoria Eugenia, Alberto Lorca, Jose Granero, Tomás de Madrid, Maria Rosa Mercéd, Pedro Azorín, Ciro y finalmente Angel Torres. Experto en las tres disciplinas del baile español ( baile regional, flamenco, y la escuela bolera) el Maestro Rodarte actuó con las compañias de Rafael de Córdoba, Alberto Lorca, Maria Rosa, Pacita Tomas, Antonio Gades, Raul, Alberto Portillo, Carmen Cubillo, Jose Molina, Jose Greco, Susana di Palma, Carlota Santana, y María Benítez.
